Posttraumatic stress. The case of Mary

â€Å"There could be no such things as jail in a genuinely Christian society.† I think a really Christian culture depends on the life and instructing of Jesus, this implies we should follow the 10 rules and the gospel esteems. At the core of Christian culture there ought to be presence of affection, pardoning, kindness, equity to crooks. Jesus’ order was to â€Å"Love your God, Love your neighbor and Love yourself.† By complying with these charges we are being Christ-like which is the thing that the Christian culture is about. Absolution doesn't mean letting individuals mistreat you! Be that as it may, it is significant. Christianity follows Jesus’ educating in focusing on that pardoning is crucial. It might be extremely hard, especially for the casualty of a wrongdoing. The Prodigal Son was a story that indicated pardoning. The jail is the way to convey the discipline, the refusal of opportunity. The indicted are detained as a discipline, not for discipline. â€Å"Her Majesty’s Prison Service serves the general population by keeping in guardianship those submitted by the courts. Our obligation is to take care of them with mankind and assist them with driving well behaved and helpful lives in guardianship and after release.† HM Prisons Service’s Mission Statement 1988. Three standards in jail make: Security-to hold safely those sent to jail. Humankind to treat detainees with mankind, detainees lose their freedom they ought not lose their humankind. They are as yet individuals with the rights that their tendency honors them. Help to help make detainees decent and give them valuable lives. Jail can exist in a really Christian culture yet not generally, helpless jail conditions don't prompt change, they just serve to exacerbate detainees. To turn out to be better individuals they need as a matter of first importance their nobility, recall Jesus’ order to adore self, this implies having a decent confidence. Detainees reserve an option to have a sense of security, the inverse occurred in Fletham Young Offenders Institution. Walk 2000, multi year old Zahid Mubarek was pounded the life out of by his cellmate, Robert Stewart had a background marked by bigot and brutal conduct. This proof doesn't take into consideration cultivating confidence or give chances to restore. For jail to maintain Christian standards the change of the guilty party is of foremost significance. Down to earth estimates, for example, training, drink and medication treatment and directing are required. There is proof that instruction impacts individual change in detainees, not just through the obtaining of commonsense abilities and information, yet additionally through cultivating confidence and aptitudes in correspondence. Mike Hart, Category A detainee, slaughtered a multi year olds lady in an outfitted burglary. Entire in jail he become a brought into the world again Christian, and has dealt with ventures while inside to assist youthful with peopling know about what jail is truly similar to trying to dismiss youngsters from the life of wrongdoing or likely wrongdoing. One such task, â€Å"Better Out than In† was a show introduction re. The picture of detainees and jails, delineating the brutal reality. How compelling his work been, hard to evaluate however recounted proof proposes that it is. There could and couldn’t be such things as jail in a genuinely Christian culture, it relies upon the kind of jail and what occurs in the jail with regards to whether jail has a spot in a really Christian culture. For penitentiaries to coincide in a genuinely Christian culture they have to have remedial system utilized to restore the wrongdoer as opposed to corrective one. Very few individuals can maintain the statement of purpose, so it should be taken a gander at and improved so as to fit into a Christian culture. In the event that we look forward Christians today can likewise help change detainees like the Howard Penal League, where detainees where ready to change by their assistance. During the nineteenth Century Elizabeth Fry Quaker who was a Christian went to jail to help restore hoodlums.

Monetary and fiscal policy during the Great Depression

The administration assumes a significant job in the guideline of a country’s economy by directing and approving the sum available for use and the sum held by banks and other money related institutions.Advertising We will compose a custom research paper test on Monetary and financial approach during the Great Depression explicitly for you for just $16.05 $11/page Learn More This procedure should be possible in two distinct manners which incorporate financial strategy and financial arrangement (Frank Bernanke 42). Financial arrangement is where the legislature intercedes by managing and controlling the measure of cash in the economy utilizing the Central Bank in numerous nations and the Federal Reserve in the United States. This is affected in a few different ways which remember purchasing of government protections for the open market activities, loan costs, rebate window rate and controlling the base save necessity proportion. Financial strategy is the place the administration doesn't straightforwardly influence the flexibly of cash in the economy along these lines it influences the measure of cash by utilization of duties and government spending (Friedman and Schwartz 79). During the 1930s the U.S economy nearly crumbled when most regular people lost their positions and the financial exchange smashed because of the steady fall in stock costs which prompted expanded offer of stocks yet with the powers of interest and flexibly, gracefully was route more noteworthy with no interest. This prompted a money related frenzy since everybody needed to sell their stocks. Banks had additionally contributed a huge part of their customers stores into the securities exchange which rendered then bankrupt compelling them to shut down. Individuals hurried to the rest of the banks to attempt to rescue the rest of the measures of cash before they could shut down. This influenced different nations in spite of the fact that not as much as it did in neighboring nations. This p rompted the mediation of the administration to reestablish the economy since joblessness expanded at a disturbing rate (Bernstein 53). Numerous market analysts particularly the classicals upheld for insignificant if not all administration intercession and guaranteed that the powers of interest and flexibly would modify themselves until the economy was at balance yet with government mediation, the powers would be upset and hindered accordingly, would not work viably. This hypothesis was overruled by the John Maynard Keynes who built up the Keynesian hypothesis which contended something else (Glasner 40). He proposed government mediation to address the economies insecurity particularly on account of revising expansion and downturn. The administration through the Federal Reserve utilizes different instruments to influence the economy which essentially center around the pace of enthusiasm winning in the market, the measure of cash in the economy through cash gracefully and the total exp enditure.Advertising Looking for investigate paper on business financial aspects? It is accepted that the accident by the financial exchange was brought about by the rigid money related approaches which were set by the Federal Reserve. A portion of the strategies were constant increment in the Fed Funds rate which prompted securities exchange to crash. This prompted speculators selling their dollars in return for gold while others pulled back their assets and traded it to different monetary forms (Bordo et al 78). The administration attempted to protect the estimation of dollar from devaluing by raising the measure of financing cost which made further liquidation the organizations. The best possible approach to help battle collapse was to alter the measure of cash flexibly in the economy yet rather the Federal Reserve limi ted from expanding cash gracefully. As speculators pulled back cash from banks causing budgetary predicament, others traded the dollars to different monetary forms and put them in different nations, a move which the Fed didn't waste time with it along these lines, prompted further diminishing in cash flexibly in the economy a procedure known as contractionary money related approach. Cash gracefully dropped drastically to low degrees of up to 30%. Rather the Fed ought to have utilized expansionary fiscal strategy where it ought to have expanded the sum in the economy through increment in government spending, decrease in expenses and diminishing the financing cost to build the measure of cash available for use (Mankiw 45). The incredible sorrow was handled by the presentation of new approach producers where Franklin Roosevelt succeeded Herbert Hoover who was accused for the reason for the downturn. Roosevelt settled the economy by presenting new strategies and rules. Banks that had sh ut down were revived once they were by all accounts stable enough. He marked the â€Å"new deal† to make new projects to battle the extraordinary sadness into laws which were utilized to make employments and give joblessness protection (Hall and Ferguson 59). These projects alone couldn't battle the extraordinary gloom alone thus this prompted the section of World War II that assisted with making resistance related exercises. U.S and different nations influenced went to money cheapening and expansionary fiscal strategies in recuperation of their economies. U.S recuperated later than different nations like the Britain and the Argentina since it didn't debase its cash and deserts the highest quality level until 1933 and recouped later on. Money related development was from the gold inflow into the nation from Europe because of the ascent in political pressure which broke to World War II. Financing costs were brought down and speculators supported assuming up credits since ackno wledgment was made to be promptly accessible to all (Klein 30).Advertising We will compose a custom research paper test on Monetary and financial arrangement during the Great Depression explicitly for you for just $16.05 $11/page Learn More This worked up desires for swelling a sign to battle emptying building certainty to financial specialists that they would acquire enough benefits and wages to help reimburse the advances which they were to obtain. Numerous purchasers and organizations reacted well and it was obvious in the expansion in premium touchy speculations, for example, fixed resources like engine vehicles, apparatus and trucks. Financial arrangement then again was not as much successful as the money related strategy. Charges were exceptionally expanded when the administration attempted to adjust its spending when it assessed the income demonstration of 1932. This was a hit to the recuperation as it disheartened spending which was a contractionary procedure. Numerous joble ss people were extended employment opportunities in government ventures and ranchers energized by being paid a lot of cash through the Agricultural Adjustment Administration. A portion of the impacts of the recuperation from the extraordinary wretchedness were human enduring because of the wars. Many were left in poor expectation for everyday comforts conditions because of absence of employments. It prompted the end and utilization of highest quality level globally. Numerous nations additionally prematurely ended the arrangement of fixed conversion scale system and favored the drifting rates in spite of the fact that the fixed money swapping scale framework had been presented under the Bretton Woods System (Eichengreen 48). During this period, worker's guilds were shaped and developed radically as it advanced aggregate haggling. This prompted the presentation of joblessness pay and even mature age protection by means of the Social Security Act. The Securities and Exchange Commission was built up so as to screen and manage the stock issues and exchanging rehearses. Banking demonstration of 1933 was set up which presented Deposit protection that helped slaughter banking predicaments and alarm and furthermore disallowed banks from guaranteeing or managing stocks and protections. Another impact is that approaches prompted a reduction in reserve funds both government and private investment funds, which implies that a higher division of yield would be utilized to pay the obligation in this way devoured abroad and less if no expended at home (Hansen 89). The extraordinary wretchedness was an excellent exercise to the Federal Reserve and other Central Banks in the checking and guideline of the economy through the intercession of the administration. On the off chance that the U.S government didn't intercede the impacts would have been more awful as indicated by Keynes, and the economy would have fell perhaps to more terrible extent.Advertising Searching for examine paper on business financial matters? Now and again it is ideal if both financial and fiscal arrangements are utilized together so as to forestall both swelling and discouragement. Victim Blaming

As per the Canadian Resource Center for Victims of Crime, casualty accusing can be characterized as â€Å"a depreciating act that happens when the victim(s) of a wrongdoing or a mishap is considered dependable †in entire or to some degree †for the violations that have been perpetrated against them†. It can show up in types of negative social reaction from definitive associations (attorneys, police, and so forth ) or from the victim’s group of friends (companions, family, school, and so forth. ) towards the wrongdoing that has happened. For our situation, the wrongdoing that has happened or, all the more precisely, may happen is rape. The test question subtextually sends this message: â€Å"If you would prefer not to be assaulted, don't act along these lines. On the off chance that you don't carry on along these lines, assault won't occur. † If we need to stop assault, would it be a good idea for us to not, rather, show attackers the misleading quality of nonconsensual (sex while affected by liquor doesn't consider consensual sex, clarified in the following passage)? On the off chance that we continue advising our ladies to conceal and stay away from ‘trouble’, we are making no endeavor to stop the assaulter. We can't continually advise ladies to flee when we are making no, or little, endeavor to teach the men.We continually offer conditions to assault: on the off chance that she was flushed, strolling around alone around evening time, wearing dress considered ‘provocative’, and so forth then it isn't assault. Now and again, the casualty is in a tipsy state and along these lines can't give appropriate assent. This is the point at which they are exploited and are assaulted. In any case, when somebody is smashed they are uninformed of their environmental factors and in this manner ignorant of their activities. We can't censure somebody for getting assaulted while alcoholic. I concur that they ought not become inebriated in any case, however they are not answerable for another individual’s activities.

Business Majors: The Degree That Gets You A Job by: Alison Damast on February 06, 2015 | 0 Comments Comments 2,836 Views February 6, 2015Undergraduate students at The Wharton SchoolBarbara Hewitt, senior associate director of career services at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, was more than pleased when she noticed that only 4.2% of bachelor of business administration graduates from the class of 2014 was still seeking employment four to six months after graduation.â€Å"That’s almost the lowest I’ve ever seen it,† Hewitt said. That wasn’t the only good news in the school’s career plans survey report. Salaries were on the upswing, with 2014 graduates pulling in average base salaries that were $1,520 higher than their 2013 counterparts. And sign-on bonuses were up slightly, with the average signing bonus $157 higher than the previous year. The highest paid Wharton undergrad last year landed a $112,000-a-year salary, though th ere were undergraduates of other schools that hit even higher numbers. Washington Universitys Olin School of Business, where 98% of the graduates accepted jobs three months after commencement, had one Class of 2014 who started a new job at a salary of $130,000, even higher than most MBA graduates, and Boston Colleges Carroll School had a graduate win a $115,000 starting salary.STRONG JOB NUMBERS FOR THE CLASS OF 2014Wharton is among a number of leading undergraduate business schools that reported strong job numbers for the 2014 class in recent career placement reports, driven by a robust hiring market for finance, steady internship-to-job conversion rates, and an increased appetite for jobs in the tech sector. Career services offices are responding by offering more intensive career prep to students, from career workshops as early as freshman year to hosting industry panels in growing areas of finance, such as investment management.Employers are finding these students well prepared t o hit the ground running, says Idalene Kesner, dean of Indiana Universitys Kelley School of Business, which offers undergrads workshops in such fields as investment banking, consulting, sales, and investment management for practical hand-on learning. This is great talent and it comes at a low price point relative to MBAs.But in the midst of the improving job market, some schools have noticed a dip in the number of employers coming to campus, as well as a decrease in the number of interviews they conduct, a sign perhaps that students are becoming less dependent on the campus recruiting process to land jobs, career services officers said.TECHNOLOGY HIRING GAINING MOMENTUMAt most schools, there has been consistent employer interest in hiring for entry-level consulting and finance-related jobs, especially those in investment banking. Yet one of the areas that gained hiring momentum in 2014 was the technology sector, where tech companies and startups have been increasingly aggressive abo ut hiring BBAs for entry-level jobs, schools said.At the University of Texas’ McCombs School of Business, the percentage of students who took jobs in the technology and finance fields was â€Å"neck-to-neck† this year for the first time, said Velma Arney, McComb’s director of BBA career services, with 12% of students heading into technology and 13% going into banking. Tech recruiters are courting undergraduates more aggressively, hosting additional office hours, coffee chats, and informal events for them, Arney said.â€Å"The largest major here at McCombs for undergraduate business students is finance, so when you see technology starting to rise, it is a bit surprising,† she said. â€Å"The technology companies are appealing to this generation of students, who see these companies as a fun place to work. Snow Day free essay sample

GernhartGernhart 1 English Composition ENG 121 14 May 2013 Narrative Essay #1 I awaken, my feet cold under the sheets . The room is strangely quiet as I slip out of bed and realize the sea of white snow. I hurry to get dressed and start bolting for the back door of our beautiful, city home in Tualatin. Today I will walk through my snow-covered yard as if I am swimming through the ocean. I stopped at the door that faced Nelson Street aligned with beautiful fall colored trees, silently watching the snowfall. The tiny ice crystals drift peacefully down from the sky. As the door slowly creeps open, I carefully step onto the front porch so as not to slip and fall. I now have a full view of Nyberg Woods, a wintry paradise on top of the hill that is covered in the whitest snow. As I walk down the steps and to the sidewalk, the chatter and play of the children, combines with the crunch of the snow under my feet like two instruments in an orchestra. While I carefully approaching my dad’s brand new Dodge truck, I feel a snowball hit me as if it was throw by an all-star baseball player. I slowly turn around to find my little brother , Dalton laughing so hard he is about to tear up. Dalton was the darndest little, blonde boy with the personality of a clown. He always had me cracking up at the silliest thing that I remembered him joking about. As we continue to enjoy the snow and play in the driveway, I seemed to have a brilliant Gernhart 2 dea that would not be such a great idea in reality. Standing on the driveway wondering what to do, I noticed the jam packed snow and ice on my the truck. I thought to myself, â€Å"Maybe my dad would love it if I helped him in de-icing his car. † Now thinking back, this probably was not the best decision. I presented this plot to my little brother, who I never really bonded with as a child. It was interesting , yet exciting that he wanted to spend the day with me in the snow, instea d of his friends! As I wander around the car, I examine the car and tried to think which tool would do the job. Certainly a credit card was too flimsy and a hockey stick would scratch the windows and paint. I didn’t know it at the time, but thinking a chizzle would do the job, while not breaking the car in any way was the wrong way of going about this. I continue encouraging my brother to engage with through this want to help my dad. Although, he did not think it was the greatest idea. He said worriedly, â€Å"What if we mess up or scratch the color off, or even break a window?! † Not caring about what might happen and the consequences that would come along with that, I convinced him otherwise to partake in this adventurous task. As I raise the chizzle towards the window of the truck, I begin to get excited for what my dad will come outside and see. Starting to get to work, my brother and I heard a slight crack that sounded like the ice beneath us breaking. We started to panic! There would be no easy way out of this one. Looking at Dalton through a hole in the window make me realize that a chisel was not the best utensil. Gernhart 3 We both were running around like chickens with our heads cut off trying to make sense of what just happened and how we were going to explain this. â€Å"Maybe, we will just say that someone threw a rock at,† Dalton expressed with a worried look on his face. I was pondering that thought of how my dad might react to this particular instance, â€Å"Will he be mad that we broke his window, or will he be happy that we tried to help? † Feeling more worried now than ever, we decided to go back inside to â€Å"Wait it out†. As I reach the front door, I encourage my brother to act like nothing appened and maybe he won’t notice. Running full speed back up the steps into the house, we shake the snow off of us like we were never even near the truck. Not knowing what would happen, the anticipation was killing us more and more and the minutes on the clock seemed like hours. Peering through the office door, we notice my dad starting to make his way outside to his beautif ul, new baby. As we dashed up the stairs we heard the door shut and the ever so deep tone of my father’s voice, â€Å"Taylor, Dalton come downstairs. † I think we know what we had coming our ways.

Airbus Case free essay sample

Individual Assignment Question 1. Why is Airbus interested in building the A3XX? What are its objectives? Airbus is interested in A3XX for a number of reasons. Firstly, Airbus did not have a product to compete with Boeing’s 747 in the VLA (very large aircraft) market. By developing the A3XX it can gain a share in the VLA market. Secondly, as A3XX has more space per seat and wider aisles, it can attract passengers especially on longer routes. Thirdly, by comparing to Boeing 747, Airbus has 35% greater capacity and provide almost 25% more volume for free. Though operating cost per flight for Airbus would be higher, it would need only 323 passengers to break even compared to 290 for Boeing 747. Lastly, from the numver of announced orders (32) of Airbus A3XX, there provides sufficient confidence for Airbus to build A3XX to meet the potential demand of customers. Below are the objectives for Airbus in building the A3XX. We will write a custom essay sample on Airbus Case or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Firstly, as from the Airline Monitor suggested, A3XX will eventually replace the 747 as the ‘Queen of Air’, as every top international carrier will feel the need to have it. Secondly, from the fleet composition for the 15 largest Boeing 747 Operators, there’s around 44% of using 747 as a total of the Widebody Fleet. Thus Airbus can gain a significant market share in the Largest Operator segment by building the A3XX. Thirdly, Airbus would have operating margins of 15-20% after delivering the first plane in 2006, and reaching full production capacity in 2008. This will be much higher compared to the operating margin of 5. % in 1999 (896/16700). Lastly, by increased capacity after building the A3XX, Airbus can increase the market share of both Deliveries and Orders segment. From the market share of Deliveries and Orders segment (5 year average from 1995-1999), Boeing has 68. 1% and 56. 5% respectively while Airbus as only 31. 9% and 43. 5% respectively. Since entry by new airlines was unlikely, Airbus believes that capacity increase will lead to increase in market share of this segment.

Justin Bieber “Believe” Tour free essay sample

Recently I attended Justin Biebers â€Å"Believe† tour concert in Louisville, Kentucky. Lets just say that by the bumper-to-bumper traffic on the way, you could guess Justin was in town. As soon as I caught sight of the arena, I saw hundreds of people lined up to get in. There were loads of T-shirt stands and food carts, not to mention you were rubbing shoulders with strangers just to get through the hallways. Entering the arena was amazing. Carly Rae Jepsen was opening for Justin, so it wasnt long before people came flooding in to their seats. I sat in the second balcony, so I had a good view. When Carly stepped out on stage, it seemed like everyone in the building was screaming. It was ear-bursting, but I knew it would get even louder. Excited and ready to see the performance, I stood with everyone else and began to forget I was even at a concert. We will write a custom essay sample on Justin Bieber â€Å"Believe† Tour or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page I knew I was enjoying myself. Carly sang songs from her new album, â€Å"Kiss.† The audience sang along. Sadly, she was only on for an hour, so it was soon over. As she finished with â€Å"Call Me Maybe,† she introduced Justin. Then all you could hear was thousands of girls screaming. Justin sang songs from his new album, â€Å"Believe.† In interviews he revealed that most of these songs are about Selena Gomez. Midway through the performance, he got on a platform that moved across the audience as he sang an acoustic version of â€Å"Fall.† Later he picked a lucky girl from the audience, as he has been known to do, and sang â€Å"One Less Lonely Girl† from his first album. Afterward he gave her a bouquet of flowers and a concert T-shirt. The lights were mesmerizing and almost distracted me from the concert. There were multicolored lasers, giant spotlights that glided across the audience, and flashing lights everywhere. My personal favorite were the rainbow lasers. I got a great picture when a fan put her hands up in the shape of a heart. This is kind of Justin Biebers trademark, like a peace sign or the â€Å"call me† sign. At the end there was a short slideshow showing Justin growing up as a singer. Girls started crying, as mothers waited for their daughters to be ready to leave. All in all the concert was a great experience. I would recommend it to any of my friends, and I definitely hope to see him in concert again soon.

Diego Rivera Mecanizacin del essays

Diego Rivera Mecanizacin del essays This work contains a great amount of symbolism and and meaning, because it is a reflection of the feelings of the author and a cause he cannot put into words. The figures represented in this painting are that of a woman, sitting in the center ; 3 men standing on the right ; 3 other men on the left ; and a woman in the clouds. The figures are depicted in typical clothing, except for the woman enveloped in a cloud, whom is wearing none. The rich colors that are used for the dirt and the faces of the people give a feeling of warmth and trust. While the distant mountains and structures are depicted in cooler colors that create a sense of distance, yet also of an incoming horizon. The painting is rich in archaeological detail and painted in a sharply outlined, linear style. The woman that is in the center of the paining represents the goddess, Xilonen. Xilonen is the Nahuatl goddess of corn, she is carrying this in her arms in the painting and is surrounded by it. The bundles of corn she is holding are meant to be her gift to the indigenous land workers that are being abused by the clergy, government and military. The second woman in the painting, is in a cloud, she is flying over the three men on the left, and she is carrying a thunderbolt. This thunderbolt she is aiming at the criminal trinity. In this case the criminal trinity is the clergy, the military and the capitalists. They are the enemies of the Mexican towns, and so the woman represents justice, because she punishes those that hurt the people. She takes care of her own. Her fury is well represented in the dark red color of the cloud and the bright orange in the thunderbolt. The dark sky around her adds intensity and emphasizes on this part of the painting. The land workers are represented b y a small figure in the background. Also in the background there is the industrialization and machinery of the new era. Pre-fabrication is another term used in the context of off-site construction. The UK Government has also coined the phrase ‘Modern Methods of Construction’ to refer to off-site construction techniques. The portions fabricated off-site are referred to as components or modules, and these are integrated into the building shell at the appropriate stage in the construction. Innovations in manufacturing technology have improved the quality and effectiveness of pre-fabricated components, and changing lifestyles and demands of the public have increased the suitability of these technologies in the house building industry. The government too has increasingly become interested in these Modern Methods of Construction as a means of providing quick and affordable solutions to meet the ever-growing demand for new housing. Various governmental organisations too have posted the latest developments, policies and programmes related to the field of off-site construction on their websites. The results and details of recent studies conducted by government agencies to compare conventional construction with off-site construction are also available on the Internet. These sources will also form a part of the study, and will help provide an understanding of the approach adopted by the administration towards the modern methods of construction.

One of the most crucial fronts of the war was the east, where Germany launched Operation Barbarossa to occupy Soviet Union and gain control of significant resources in the east.4 According to the post, the winter, bad road conditions, and a lack of cohesion; and that the Germans must have conquered just enough territory to effectively sustain the campaign. However, I think that the biggest mistake of Germany was attempting to conquer the Soviet Union itself, for the Soviet Union was very successful in their industrialization and has so immense resources and manpower to be able to successfully repulse any German advance;5 they must have not invaded the Soviet Union and focused on invading Great Britain instead. LOVE BUG Essay -- essays research papers

The â€Å"Love Bug† Virus   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  The virus dubbed the â€Å"love bug† started to rapidly spread throughout the world on May 4, 2000. According to David Ruppe (May 5,2000) in an article on the ABCNEWS.com website, The virus came in the form of â€Å"ILOVEYOU† in the subject line, which seemed harmless and greets people in a friendly way. They have no idea that they are in for a big surprise as they opened their email. The message inside reads: â€Å"kindly check the attached LOVELETTER coming from me† (Ruppe, May 5,2000). A 22-year-old college dropout was arrested in the Philippines as the author of this virus (anonymous, August 21,2000).   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   When the attachment contained in the email was opened, the virus rapidly proliferated by automatically sending copies to everyone listed in the user’s email address book. Experts have concluded that this was the cause of the rapid slow down of servers around the world. Some of the servers have been so severely overloaded that they have shut down. This in turn has been preventing other email from being se3nt (anonymous September 5, 2000). As Hillebrand reports, â€Å"The Head of corp0orate communications at the computer Security Company Sophos Anit- Virus, Graham Cluely says that companies have been bombarded by this virus and have begun to switch off email systems†. Cluely also concluded that one of the reasons that the virus is so popular because it makes a tug on your emotions, love can get you into trouble (Hillebrand May 15,2000).   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  In this certain case there are several categories of Cybercrime that this type of crime represents. As written by Casey, the first one being that the computer was a target. This virus was supposed to gather information once it was opened and send back information to its owner. This included searching for login names and passwords. This would enable the owner to use any of the victim’s Internet accounts to surf the net for free. (Ruppe May5, 2000). The second cybercrime category is the computer as the instrumentality of the crime. Since the computer was the main focus of the crime and was used to implement it. The third and final cybercrime category is that the crime is associated with the prevalence of computers. This one is because it allowed the theft of the components of the login names as well as the passwords. This could be cl... ...o the fact that the professor was not afraid to come forward and say â€Å"hey I might know this guy†. I did not like however the fact that the Philippine government had not law governing this type of crime. These crimes affect everyone in the world not just down the street or another state. However since this has come to light the E-Commerce Act has passed into law in the Philippines and carries a fine of at least $2,300 plus three jail sentences. The credit card legislation has much lesser penalties. This Act however is not retroactive (Hillebrand May 15, 2000). Cited Page Casey, Eoghan. (2001) Pg. 17. Gender Roles with Latin/ Hispanic Society or Family - Free Essay Example

Within the Latin culture there are boundaries and limitations of expected gender roles for the females and males. Needless to say, these gender roles are often witnessed from a young age for Latin females and males within their home. Latinos who are less acculturated tend to embrace these gender specific ideologies about marriage, family and that the significant others have the final say within the marriage relationship(Molina and Alcntara,2013).For decades prior, society placed these stereotypical demeanors upon females and their responsibilities that are not limited yet are subjective to child bearing and daily household task while, as for the males, they often have greater education achievements and tend to be financial facilitators for the family (Updegraff et al., 2014). Don’t waste time! Our writers will create an original "Gender Roles with Latin/ Hispanic: Society or Family" essay for you Create order Not to mention, if the female has more free time than the male, it is assumed for her to complete more household duties (Lam, McHale and Updegraff, 2012). Gender roles within American society often are similar to the Latin culture but tend to lose some distinction as the nuclear family develops. However, American society regarding gender roles have become somewhat of a blended approach regarding specific gender roles at home in the latter years. Where men are stepping up to tend to children and completing household task and where the females are now becoming apart of the background due to increase in employment status or furthering education that keeping them from being at home. Herein this study, we want to know if society impacts gender roles and if they differ between generations within the Latin/Hispanic culture or are gender roles still prevalent between generations within the Latin/Hispanic culture. Wanting to see if the gender roles regarding the nuclear family are still as strong as the generations of Latin/Hispanic descendants become for Americanized from outside the home. Past research from with the Latin community focuses more so on the acculturation of the individuals with society yet fail to provide more insight on generational aspect of the family dynamics. Before we can evaluate the entirety, we wanted to start at the higher part of the totem pole within the family structure, the grandparents and work downwards from there to see if there are any distinct similarities between each generation and gender roles. Most of what families know as far as, beliefs come from the matriarchs of the family, the grandparents. The grandparents are the ones who set the blue print for what is to be followed. From an article by Agnieszka Lasota ( 2014), the author studied the development perspective from grandparents and children by transmission of knowledge, values and skills at the nucleus family level. The study had a total of 160 participants with ranging from pre-school to middle adulthood. The study concluded that the grandparents transmit more traditions, culture and historical knowledge to grandchildren while the parents transmits specific skills and moral norms to the children. Overall, the study did help equate some insight regarding what grandparents bring to the family dynamic. Needless to say, the study gave an ambiguous conclusion considering any roles in particular they may transmit to the children, stating that family members assume the role given to them by what the family expects the individuals to satisfy the needs of the family, whether it is cooking, cleaning or teaching the younger generations how to ride a bike. We would do an injustice, if we failed to provide cert ain components that categorize the different levels of family dynamics. Keep in mind, generational status can be defined as: first generation can refer to an individual who is the spent a majority of their lives in a different country, who in there for migrated to the United States. Second generation can refer to an individual who emigrated at an early age with one or both parents and have grown up majority of their lives in the United States. Third generation can refer to an individual being born in the United States. The generational factors can provide evidence of culture comprehension for the family dynamics. Correlations between family interactions and generational status could transpire how the we interpret gender roles amongst the family(Chang, Chen Natsuaki, 2013). First generation Latino Americans demonstrate above average levels on family cohesiveness whereas though third generation Latino Americans demonstrate larger levels of family quarrels (Chang, Chen Natsuaki, 2013). For example, Tayna Nieri and Moncia Bermudez-Parsai published an article in 2014 regarding the parent and child acculturation and how their can be differences in gaps for the family. The article gives more positive reflections on acculturation on a macro level within the Latin culture. The data collected was from group of thirty immigrant participants and a total of sixty interviews given. The participants from 18 years of age to 39 years of age and have lived at least ten years in the United States. The results conclude that the parents interpreted that their Latin culture roots are something vital for their children to know while the children perception of their own culture is something they have no choice to know due to the results of their parents demonstrating through the types of food eaten, music, specific holidays celebrated. Yet, the children participants reiterate that without the guidance from the parents by instilling their Latin culture upon them, they would not have a sense of closeness and camaraderie with their parents. Admit that they want to have that sort of dynamic with their own children someday. There are numerous study conducted similar to this article yet none them give direct insight to if acculturation is the only effect on the family dynamics. Not saying that past research is meaningless because it is relevant to future studies such as mine when determining gender roles within the nucleus family. I have to know where we have been in order to change the future and purse alternate research such as regarding the generational component to add to future research. Moving on to the parents and the family dynamics, the parents are the ones the children see on a daily basis. The article, The Second Shift Reflected in the Second Generation: Do Parents Gender Roles at Home Predict Childrens Aspira tions, were it studied gender inequality at home and how it restricts gender equality at work. It reports that women still are at an injustice because the majority of wives are left with unpaid domestic labor at home. Assuming that these domestic labors are still in fact cleaning and maintain the home and child care. (Croft, Schmader, Block Baron, 2014). In the past females have been linked with lessen career aspirations, decrease in job earnings and lower levels of education in adulthood (Updegraff et al., 2014). A study regarding parental favoritism, argues that mothers of the family are more often, than not viewed as the explicit caregiver for children. Especially toward female offspring, which lead to deep- seated perspectives from the offspring and mothers than with the vice versus with the fathers. Which can precede to have significant pressure placed upon female offspring rather than male offspring that can create damaging effects on the psychological well-being and rapport between siblings (Gilligan, Suitor, Kim and Pillemer, 2013). The most common and often associated with the Latin culture is machismo belief, in tells are masculine norms that males attribute too. As the male role as the head of the household and celebrate their supremacy and sexual virility. This where the belief can become damaging to the adolescents upbringing because if the child only sees the father go to work and come home when dinner is ready, their image is skewed and the foundation for differential placements for gender roles is born. The child However, the fathers are viewed as having active involvement later on in the offsprings adulthood (Gilligan, Suitor, Kim and Pillemer, 2013). Male spouses state that household duties tend to be seen as uninteresting and tedious, that if they have to complete them, they would rather do tasks that are appealing to them in order to complete them. Believe that since they more socioeconomic resources they have the authority to buy themselves out of these duties (Lam, McHale and Updegraff, 2012) Maricansimo is yet another cultural value which is depicted as obedience and virtues for the females to abide by toward the family. For example, where both parents work outside the home and if the parents are deficient in speaking the English language, families stereotypically choose the female adolescents to increase the household duties, act a interpreters for the parents and to take care of younger siblings. (Lam, McHale Updegraff, 2012) Lastly, the children and their knowledge of these gender roles within the home setting. With children, the initial and primary teachers are the parents, where parents prove to be a crucial component for their children ethic identity development (Kim, B?maca-Colbert, Jian, Gonzales-Backen, 2017). Yet, female adolescents demonstrate more stereotypical gender role beliefs where women do complete more domestic roles at home compared to males (Croft, Schmader, Block Baron, 2014). Not to mention, male adolescents report more work-focus tasks than what the female adolescent report, in which were more family-focus tasks (Croft, Schmader, Block Baron, 2014). Females are often receiving the short end of the stick per se within the Latin community. Latin females are not enrolling in post-secondary education compared to other ethnic backgrounds. Some reasoning behind that can be that Latin parents expect their children to place the family needs over the induvial need. Therefore, giving females a pulling sensation in numerous directions concerning expectations education performance and family involvement. Causing females to experience a depilating desire to complete higher education (Sy and Romero, 2008). The term, familismo, which can be interpreted as family closeness and loyalty to the family. It can entail to be asked to forfeit their own personal desires for the greater good of the family. Males tend to have decrease occupation and educational ambitions as adolescent but have greater job earning in adulthood (Updegraff et al., 2014). Males as well, are the Yet, the familismo concept does not just vanish with other generations, in fact, are still common for second and third generations Latin families. Suggesting that the children of these immigrants are nevertheless, partaking and raising their children with the equivalent belief (Sy and Romero, 2008). So as the millennials trailblaze into creating careers and starting families, one can wonder if there are altering the past of gender roles within their own nuclear families or are the gender roles staying the same with in the families. As I am a part of that generation, I question my own expectations because I have as well not changed the expectations of gender roles with my own nuclear family and home. Current research by Ramirez, Oshin Milan published an article in 2017, in the Journal of Cross-Cultural Psychology, wh ere they evaluated such values, beliefs and practices with Latin mothers future socialization goals for their own daughters. This study gives great insight for what Latin mother still, like practice traditional gender roles for their daughters to abide by. The article states, the Latino parents parenting behaviors differentiates with their daughters and sons.
